Book Club at Apéro Hour: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and Passing by Nellie Larsen

📚✨ Main Street Market Book Club ✨📚

Our book club nights are some of our favorites—full of thoughtful discussion, laughter, and always paired with amazing food and drinks. Choose from a variety of delicious small plates available à la carte, plus wine, cocktails, or a cozy cup of tea or coffee. The group is growing with wonderful regulars, and we love welcoming new members. Drop in anytime—even if you haven’t finished (or even started!) the book.

This month’s selections are the perfect lead-up to October and Halloween:

👤 The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

A chilling psychological thriller about Alicia Berenson, a painter who shocks the world when she murders her husband and then stops speaking altogether. Enter Theo Faber, a psychotherapist determined to discover the truth. Dark, twisty, and unsettling—it’s a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.

🎭 Passing by Nella Larsen

A Harlem Renaissance masterpiece exploring race, identity, and belonging. Childhood friends Clare Kendry and Irene Redfield take very different paths: one embraces “passing” as white, while the other lives within Harlem’s Black community. Their reunion sets off a tense, beautiful, and haunting story that resonates just as much today as it did in 1929.

Come for the books, stay for the food, drinks, and community. Everyone is welcome—we can’t wait to see you at the Market!

Stop by your local book store Paper Places Bookshop for copies of these books!
