Wine of the Week: Unshackled Sparkling Wine

This week at Main Street Market, we’re pouring Unshackled Sparkling Wine by the glass—for just $8.50—a delightful opportunity to indulge in a bottle we normally serve only by the bottle.

Winery & Wine: A Brief History

The Prisoner Wine Company, perched along Napa Valley’s legendary Highway 29, redefined modern Californian winemaking with its inaugural release, The Prisoner, back in 2000. This unconventional red blend quickly became a cult favorite, praised for its bold flavor, captivating label art—inspired by Francisco Goya’s Le Petit Prisonnier—and fearless vision.

Building on that legacy, Unshackled emerged in 2019 as a luxury collection of wines—each crafted for brightness, approachability, and a break from tradition. The line includes a Red Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé, and the sparkling version gracing our menus this week. Made from premium grapes sourced across California’s Central and North Coasts and helmed by Director of Winemaking Chrissy Wittmann, Unshackled is all about pushing boundaries in style and taste.

Tasting Notes

  • Varietal Blend: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, traditional sparkling stars

  • Aroma: Bright with floral and mineral hints

  • Flavors: Crisp green and Fuji apples, delicate Asian pear

  • Finish: Vibrantly acidic and ultra-clean—a refreshingly elegant sip

Pairing Suggestions

Unshackled Sparkling's lively acidity and subtle complexity make it a versatile companion to:

  • Flatbread favorites during Apéro Hour—its effervescence balances rich, cheesy toppings

  • Fresh pasta dishes like Cacio e Pepe or garlic shrimp linguine—perfect contrast to creamy, savory sauces

  • Sweet bites—a stemless glass alongside Le Belge chocolates or fruit tarts creates a delightful, sparkling finish

Only This Week—Don’t Miss It

Swing by the Market this week and treat yourself to a glass of Unshackled Sparkling for just $8.50. It’s the perfect way to elevate your meal, toast a moment, or simply savor something a little luxurious—without opening a full bottle.

Will you be ordering a second glass? We’d love to hear what you pair it with!

Cheers,
Main Street Market
